When Paddy Met Lyra

Lyra was born in April 2024, and was diagnosed with trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome). Linked to this, she also has 2 holes in her heart. We provided the best possible care and support for Lyra and her family. Now, a group of her friends and family are taking on the Kiltwalk to give back and say thanks.
Lyra's Hospital Journey
Lyra was born in April of last year, and was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Here, she was diagnosed with trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome), as well as 2 holes in her heart. Lyra underwent open heart surgery at only a few months old, and proceeded to have stays in NICU, PICU, and Ward 1E, our cardiac care ward.
How Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity Helped
Thankfully, we continue to be there every step of the way. From funding life saving cardiac care equipment, to the enhancements of our theatres waiting area, and even providing Lyra with donor milk during her first few days of life in our neonatal unit.
"Not only did Lyra receive the best care possible; as parents we received fantastic support including psychological and financial assistance during her stays."

Lyra's Stars
This weekend, a group of Kerri's friends and family, known as "Lyra's Stars" are taking on the Mighty Stride at the 2025 Glasgow Kiltwalk. We surprised the family with an extra sepcial visit form TV star, Paddy McGuiness!
We are so grateful to Lyra's Stars, and each and every other fundraising star who has signed up to support us at this weekend's Kiltwalk. Your support means that we can continue to provide the best possible care for our young patients, their families, and our NHS heroes.
