Barclays Scotland Support Little Hearts

27 February 2020 Neonatal baby

We are proud to have launched our charity partnership with Barclays Scotland to help support little hearts

Barclays Scotland have partnered with Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity to support our Fetal Cardiology Service at Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children.

In Scotland, 1 in 100 babies are born with a heart condition. When an unborn baby's heart is only the size of a thumbnail, it is crucial for Fetal Cardiologists to have access to the highest resolution ultrasound images.

This can allow consultants to more accurately analyse the tiny structures of the heart in order to diagnose any defects.

The Fetal Cardiology Scanner that will supported by Barclays Scotland, will not only help medical teams to diagnose heart conditions. It will allow specialists to put the best possible care plans in place, and give families the chance to prepare for the treatment or surgery that their baby will need after birth to survive.

"Having supported Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity for a number of years it is clear that our colleagues have a passion to help change the lives of their patients.

"I am delighted that Barclays Scotland have chosen to support the Charity and raise the much needed funds for the Fetal Ultrasound Scanner, a truly incredible piece of equipment for a truly amazing Charity."

Andy Hall, Head of Citizenship, Barclays Scotland

We'd like to thank all the team at Barclays Scotland for helping us transform the care given to babies with heart conditions, and for helping to put Scotland at the forefront of pioneering new ultrasound techniques to help vulnerable babies for generations to come.
