Events Volunteer

KBTT VolunteersWe are looking for enthusiastic Events Volunteers to provide essential support out in the community. Can you help us? 

About this role

There are a whole range of exciting activities to get involved with as one of our Events Volunteers.

You could find yourself supporting some of our flagship events or campaigns, attending local bucket collections, supporting with our fundraising activities at summer fayres and parades, or even selling our charity merchandise at community market stalls!

As this role involves working alongside our team to interact in a socially distanced manner with supporters and the general public, we are looking for sociable and outgoing volunteers to apply.

While many of our fundraising activities and events take place across the Central belt, we also require support for events throughout Scotland.

What we're looking for

Essential requirements

You must:

  • Be honest and reliable
  • Be friendly, sociable and enthusiastic
  • Have good communication skills and willingness to answer general questions about the charity 
  • Have confidence to interact with our supporters, patients and the general public
  • Be 16 years or older (children and young people are welcome to volunteer if they are accompanied by an adult).

Volunteer Tasks

Each event has different tasks associated with it, volunteers will get a full view of what’s involved with each event prior to signing up.

Time requirements

You will be required on an ad hoc basis, as times for each event will vary. You will be alerted weekly of volunteering opportunities and can select an event accordingly.

Volunteer Support Information

All volunteers receive a full induction before their first shift. Training includes:

  • Health & safety procedures for the event
  • Basic cash handling procedures
  • Customer service guidance for interacting with supporters

Supervision & Onsite Support

  • Each shift has a charity staff member present
  • Volunteers are always supported while on duty, whether it’s their first or fifth shift
  • Help is on hand to deal with any unexpected issues or questions from the public

Wellbeing & Inclusion

  • Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for all volunteers.
  • Volunteers can share any access or support needs during onboarding.

Recognition

  • Volunteers are warmly recognised and thanked throughout their journey with us
