Finn the Mountain Slayer

27 May 2025 Finn 3 peaks 9

Glasgow Warriors superfan and determined 12-year-old, Finn, has recently completed one of the UK’s most intense physical and mental challenges, the National 3 Peaks! Setting off with his Dad, James, at 5am on the 3rd of May, Finn began his journey at Snowdon and completed the challenge on the evening of the 4th of May at the base of Ben Nevis.

In total, Finn covered approximately 22 miles, climbed 9,500 feet, and raised over £5,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity!

Fighting for Glasgow’s Families

“The 3 Peaks was going to be a massive challenge, and if I wanted to raise a big amount of money, then it needed to be an equally big challenge to do that. 40% of people don't finish, but I knew that I could.”

Finn 3 peaks 1“Go big or go home! That’s what I say on game days for rugby and Gaelic football!”

Finn

“Having undergone an operation at Yorkhill when I was younger and seeing what the Glasgow Warriors do to raise the money, I knew that I wanted to help Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. What the charity does is amazing, not only do they keep spirits high, but they help keep families close, and that’s so important.

Finn 3 peaks 3“As a huge Warriors fan, I wanted to support their ‘Fighting for our Families’ campaign for the 2024/25 season. I’m already planning an even bigger challenge next year to raise even more money!”

Conquering the 3 Peaks

“The top and bottom of each mountain were my favourite, the bits in the middle, not so much…”

Finn

“What really kept me going was knowing who I was doing this for. It wasn't for me, but for the children and families who need it. Every penny, every kind word, and every video people shared gave me the strength to keep going. It was hard, but I am fit and healthy and do lots of sports and activities in my spare time, so I knew I could do it.

Finn 3 peaks 7“I can’t believe we raised £5,000! I actually thought we might not make our target, but I wouldn’t have minded, because I knew I was doing something good. Finding out I’d smashed my target was very emotional. The 3 Peaks Challenge was hard, but thinking about the people who helped me, and the people I'll help, kept me going.

Finn 3 peaks 8Friends, family and even people I don't know, donating and cheering me on, that got me through the hard times.”

Finn’s Big Thank You

“My family were so awesome! Even though my dad only made it up half of Nevis, he was a great support, and we had a lot of good laughs.

Finn 3 peaks 4Thanks to my mum for making sure we got there and keeping us fed and watered, and seeing my Nonna, Papa, Sister and cousin at the end was amazing! I also can't thank my Aunt Niamh, Uncle Paul and Henry enough for helping me conquer Ben Nevis.”

James adds:

“Thank you to Workwear Express, the Print Centre and Greenlaw Graphics who all helped with clothing and supplies. They were a huge help, along with Finn’s friends and family who all rallied round him with videos and messages.”

Finn 3 peaks 2As voted for by his primary school, Finn’s next challenge will be…

The West Highland Way

In May 2026, Finn will take on the iconic 96-mile hike from Milngavie to Fort William, climbing the equivalent of four peaks, and covering around 13,500 feet of ascent, over 5 days. And if that’s not enough, he's even planning to climb Ben Nevis again at the end!
