Hire Aoife's Sensory Bus!

Sensory Bus

Bring an inclusive sensory experience to your community or event while supporting children in hospital with Aoife's Sensory Bus!

Aoife’s Sensory Bus is operated by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Crosshouse Children's Fund, and is designed to offer children and young people who find busy or noisy environments overwhelming a place to unwind and explore at their own pace.

AoifeAoife’s Sensory Bus started Aoife's journey and her family’s wish to keep her memory alive by helping other children.

At 16 months old, Aoife was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent several surgeries, chemotherapy,  radiotherapy and a clinical trial. Sadly, after all her treatment, Aoife died when she was 6 years old.

With all of her surgeries and treatment, it left her with developmental delay and additional support needs. After her first surgery, Aoife was receiving physiotherapy rehabilitation at Yorkhill Hospital when dad Michael saw first-hand the positive impact a sensory room could have. The calming, stimulating and engaging environment helped Aoife relax, focus and enjoy a much-needed distraction during a very challenging time.

Sensory Bus_5From this experience, the vision for Aoife’s Sensory Bus was created to bring the benefits of a sensory space directly to children with ASN and complex needs.

“The bus aims to provide a safe and welcoming space where children can relax, have fun and experience sensory stimulation. It can also offer a positive distraction from medical tests, assessments and appointments, helping to make difficult experiences a little easier. What started with Aoife’s journey has become a way of carrying her memory forward and making a difference in the lives of many other children and families.”
