FAQs - Oor Wullie Farewell Weekend

We hope you're looking forward to saying 'cheerio' to Oor Wullie - here is everything you need to know for our Farewell Weekend!

How much are tickets?

Tickets for this event are free. There will be activities throughout the Farewell Gathering which are chargeable, or for a suggested donation.   All proceeds will go direct to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to help support our work to bring the best hospital experience and care possible to children and their families who are cared for at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Do I need to bring my printed ticket with me on the day?

No, you do not need to print your ticket as long as you are able to show your confirmation email to the staff on arrival.

Where is the event?

Hall 3, SEC Exhibition Centre

I cannot find my confirmation email

You require your confirmation to gain entry to the event. Please call the office to arrange for the email to be resent to you 0141 212 8750

Can I change my time slot?

You can only change your time slot in advance and only if there is availability to do so. If your preferred time slot is unavailable, this is because the session has sold out. Please call 0141 212 8750 to discuss.

Does my ticket only allow me two hours at the event?

Yes, due to the high demand for the event, the SEC has a maximum capacity at any one time. We strongly advise that you arrive 30 minutes ahead of your session to allow time to get registered and make the most of the two hours available.

Once you show your confirmation email, you will be given a coloured wristband and announcements will be made when your session is coming to an end.

For example, if your designated time slot is 12noon – 2pm and you arrive at 1pm, you will still be asked to leave at 2pm.  If you arrive late, unfortunately we are unable to extend your time slot.

Can I bring a bag into the event?

Yes, bags are allowed into the Hall. If you wish, you can deposit any bags into the cloakroom on the SECC concourse for £2 per item.

Accessibility

The SEC Centre has automatic doors at both East and West entrances. Every hall in the SEC Centre is at ground level, therefore, making every event easily accessible for wheelchair users. This includes:
- Wide accessible doors at both the East and West Entrances/Exits of the SEC Centre. - Automatic Entry and Exit Doors to the SEC Centre both East and West entrances.      - Broad, flat, accessible concourse. All Halls are at Ground Level making them easily accessible 

Can I leave the event and come back again?

As the event is sold out, you are unable to leave the event and come back later in the day 

Can children attend this event on their own?

No, all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied with an adult at all times. Anyone on the day who is under the age of 16 that is not accompanied by an adult will not be permitted entry 

I am now unable to make the time on my ticket

Should you wish to change the time of your entry, please contact us by calling 0141 212 8750. There is only a certain allocation of tickets per timeslot and these are available on a first come first served basis.

Is my ticket transferrable?

Yes, in advance of the event and only if there is availability for your preferred time slot. Please call the office if you wish to transfer to another time 0141 212 8750

What activities are there on the day?

There will be lots of entertainment on the day including face painting, musical performances, interactive play and the opportunity to see all of the Oor Wullie’s - both large and small sculptures - from the Glasgow Trail.

 There will be activities throughout the Farewell Gathering which are chargeable, or for a suggested donation.   All proceeds will go direct to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to help support our work to bring the best hospital experience and care possible to those children and their families who receive treatment and care at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

On Sunday 15th September, there will be no train service to the Exhibition Centre. A replacement bus service will be in operation. Check your journey >

How can I access any photos that are taken on the day?

Photographs and filming will be taken throughout the event and used in future publications for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.  If you do not wish your image to be used, please identify yourself to the organisers on the day. 

What if I can no longer attend the event?

Please contact us and let us know. Tickets are in high demand so it would be nice for us to be able to offer these to someone else if you can no longer attend. You can email info@glasgowchildrenshospitalcharity.org or call us on 0141 212 8750 

What Oor Wullie Sculptures will I be able to see on the day?

You will be able to see all the large sculptures from the Glasgow and the West Trail. You will also be able to see the mini Oor Wullie’s from this trail too.

Is there an ATM at the event?

Yes, there is an ATM in the main concourse of the SECC.

Is there a cloakroom at the event?

Yes, there is a cloakroom in the main concourse of the SECC. You can leave coats and bags here for a cost of £2.

 Is there catering at the event?

There will be various food outlets selling hot and cold food and drinks within the event.

Can I bring my own food and drink into the venue?

Yes. There will also be various catering units in the hall should you wish to purchase food and drinks

Are Buggies and prams permitted?

Yes, they are permitted into the hall. If you wish to leave them outside, please use the cloakroom on the concourse.

Refusal entry

The venue reserves the right to refuse anyone entry to the venue at their discretion and any person who fails to comply with instructions from a steward or other person acting on behalf of the venue may be ejected. In addition, anyone found to be causing damage to the venue, the venue infrastructure, causing harm to any other person on site, behaving in an illegal, anti-social or aggressive manner, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or in breach of these conditions will be ejected and may be reported to the police. Children under 16 years of age will not be permitted without an adult. Alcohol, non-prescription drugs and weapons are not permitted.

Ethical conduct

The organiser, in keeping with the ethics and ethos of a children’s charitable organisation agrees that there will be no content or items of an adult, political, racial or socially inappropriate nature during this event
