David McClelland

David is Global Head of Viral Clearance Operations for Merck, in their Life Sciences division.  He is an experienced business leader, having led large organisations in both Scotland and the USA.

David grew up in Irvine and initially pursued a career in Aerospace Engineering, working for GE Aviation in Prestwick.  After graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University as a mature student, David developed his managerial skills at GE before joining leading Life Science company, BioReliance Ltd, in 2005.  He now holds a global leadership role as well as being the Site Head and Managing Director for the Scottish sites (now part of Merck).

David is married to Carol and together they have three children.  He has been a long-time advocate of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, both as a personal fundraiser and through corporate fundraising at Merck.  By joining the Board of Trustees, David is keen to offer his many years of business leadership experience to further the aims of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
